About Our Business

  Started in 1991, The Green Valley Grill is a casual fine-dining
restaurant located in the beautiful Pajaro Valley of the Monterey Bay in
California.  Renowned for its bountiful fields of produce, the town of
Watsonville is located about 15 miles south of Santa Cruz.    The
restaurant is owned by local entrepreneur Ray Rodriguez, who has
spent his formidable career in the local produce business....from
growing fruits and vegetables , to packing, selling and shipping  these
products around the world.

This close connection to the local land follows thru in the philosophy of
Green Valley Grill where we strive to represent the best of the local
bounty prepared in a uncomplicated modern approach with a regard for
tradition in a culinary sense. We invite you to visit us and  sample the
fruits of our valley and our hearts.

The restaurant is a large modern 125 seat venue with a full bar and two
separate banquet rooms that seat an additional 145 people.    We are
the largest and most well known fine dining restaurant in Watsonville
and over the years have repeatedly received many awards and
accolades as the finest restaurant in the area, of which we are quite
proud of.

Our executive chef and manager, Jim Hughes has been with us for 13
years and has developed quite a reputation for his consistent quality
and innovative cuisine.  He has previously worked with some of the
best known names in the industry, including Wolfgang Puck, Michel
Richard, Nancy Silverton, and Lydia Shire.  Having been immersed in
the restaurant business since childhood,,. 30+ years now....Chef
Hughes has a grounded approach to his food.  His cuisine  has an
updated  root in the tradition of American fare emphasizing the local
wonderful micro-products available to us on the bountiful central coast
of California.

Robin Anderson has been the  manager overseeing the dining room
and lounge for the past 12 years.  Robin's warm friendly nature and
attention to care has made our regular visitors more like family to us
than customers.   She is the one who has developed our terrific staff
which  we are quite proud of. Many of these great people have also
been with us for many, many years, and their dedication and
experience are the driving force of what makes Green Valley Grill so
successful !

small-town  audience as well as the world travelers  with its honest
approach to service, cuisine, atmosphere and  attention to the details
